Unique Success Stories

City University of New York

In 1993, a new 82,550 square-foot building located in lower Manhattan began being utilized to house classrooms for Borough of Manhattan Community College. However, on September 11th, 2001, Tower 7 came crashing down on the structure. Within just 6 days of the disaster, City University of New York (CUNY), working together with the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York, erected special "trailers" in an incredibly short amount of time to meet the needs of students scheduled to begin their Spring semester in January, 2002. Instrumental in the success of this project was SJ Electric, who handled the electrical contracting and received a Resolution of Appreciation from CUNY citing “invaluable assistance to help alleviate a very tragic situation."

Ground Zero

After the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, SJ Electric played an important role in the clean-up effort, providing electrical expertise along with lighting and power – enabling crews at the site to work around the clock.

Battery Park City Ferry Terminal

The new West Side terminal serves New York and New Jersey commuters on the Hudson River. More than 6,000 passengers utilize the floating terminal facility on a daily basis. SJ Electric worked closely with New York City and New Jersey agencies and the Port Authority in handling electrical contracting for the $50 million project.
