Robert Amabile, President/Principal

Bob has 30 years of experience in the electrical marketplace. Before founding SJ Electric in 1995, he was Project Executive/Estimator for Northgate Electric Corp. of Huntington Station, New York. While in that position, Bob had responsibility for all major construction estimating and project management, including the supervision of a staff of engineers, estimators, project managers and hundreds of electricians. Prior to Northgate Electric, Bob was Project Manager/Estimator/Engineer for Luis Electrical Contracting Corp. of Long Island City, New York. Bob is a member of several professional organizations throughout the electrical industry. He serves as Vice President for the Association of Electrical Contractors. Furthermore, Bob is a member of the Board of Directors for the National Electrical Contractors Association. He also serves on the Board of Governors for the Building Trades Employees Association; he is a Representative to the Joint Independent Board of Electricians; and he serves as a Trustee-JIB for the Additional Benefit Fund of Electricians. Bob holds a bachelor’s degree in construction management from Pratt Institute. He resides in Lynbrook, New York with his wife and children and is actively involved in his community, including serving as a youth coach for basketball and baseball.

Brian Kay, Secretary/Treasurer/Principal

Brian’s career in electrical contracting began in 1994 when he was Project Assistant for Northgate Electric Corp. of Huntington Station, New York. After serving Northgate for more than a year, Brian moved on to SJ Electric where he became Project Manager in 1995. While in that position, he had management responsibility for all phases of the electrical contracting projects handled by SJ Electric – overseeing estimating, budgeting, scheduling, parts procurement, onsite project management, job completion and follow-up. Brian became a Principal at SJ Electric in January 2009 and now oversees day-to-day operations in addition to the responsibilities detailed above. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from St. John’s University. Brian resides in Syosset with his wife and children and is an enthusiastic participant in several community events and activities, including serving as manager for youth baseball.
